Visakhapatnam: A team of Andhra University researchers and students-S Hemanth Kumar, Anitha, Pavan, VN Murty, N Sunil Kumar, P Venkateswara Rao and Dorababu- met the committee appointed by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao to inquire into the recent allegations appeared in a section of the media against former Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University Prof. GSN Raju, here on Friday and submitted a representation to the Chairman Asithosh Mishra.

Hemanth Kumar told The Hans India that they apprised the Chairman through a memorandum about the service done by former Vice-Chancellor Prof GSN Raju to the poor and differently abled on humanitarian grounds. They said that Prof Raju since his assumption of charge as Vice-Chancellor used to attend the office, workshops, seminars and official meetings without fail.

“After the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, he is the person, who introduced the Vehicle-free Campus Day on 28th of every month regularly to help reduce pollution levels. Under his leadership, the Andhra University has bagged the national award for NSS wing and he is responsible for restoring academic discipline on the campus. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu complimented Prof Raju on many occasions, including at the first State Cabinet meeting held on the campus and at the first Andhra University alumni meet, he added.

The committee, which arrived here on Thursday evening, was learnt to have discussed with In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof EA Narayana and Registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao in this regard.
