Eluru: The Kolleru people have demanded the Union Government to reduce the contour level of Kolleru from Plus-Five Contour to Three to save their livelihood.
The Kolleru team led by Kolleru People Association chairman and Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu), Krishna, West Godavari districts Kolleru Fishermen, Farmers’ Societies Association president Saidu Satyanarayana, vice-president M Gopalakrishna, Kondala Rao, Varadayya, G Anjaneyulu, B Rajarao, Mungara Rajendra Prasad, B Simhachaam met Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday morning. They explained the problems of Kolleru people and the ‘harassment’ by the forest department under the guise of Abhayaranya.
The Minister patiently listened to the problems of the Kolleru people and assured them of immediate steps in this regard. He assured that he would bring the matter to concern Minister and the Kolleru Protection Committee for an early solution to the problem.
