In an effort to counter TDP claims of impressive growth rate in the State because of ruling AP government, the state BJP unit is gearing up its cadre for the successful conduct of 11-day publicity campaign beginning from April 14, coinciding with 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar, to create awareness among rural people about various schemes initiated by the BJP-led NDA government.
Tirupati: In an effort to counter TDP claims of impressive growth rate in the State because of ruling AP government, the state BJP unit is gearing up its cadre for the successful conduct of 11-day publicity campaign beginning from April 14, coinciding with 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar, to create awareness among rural people about various schemes initiated by the BJP-led NDA government for rural development, social justice and equality.

Senior BJP leader and MLC Somu Veerraju, who held a meeting with BJP activists here on Tuesday, wanted them to take active part in the campaign to boost up NDA government’s image. Addressing the activists after paying floral tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram on the occasion of his 106th birth anniversary here, Veerraju said that it was Central government’s liberal financial support that helped the State to achieve the impressive growth rate.
Particularly, the MLC said that the State made good use of the support being extended by the Centre for 24-hour power supply scheme and power connection to 6 lakh houses at nominal cost. He also said power saving initiatives like supply of solar pump sets and LED bulbs, solar power generation which mainly propelled the State to become power surplus contributing to the growth of various sectors like industry.
Veerraju repeatedly sought the party workers to ensure the campaign titled as Grama Uday se Bharat Uday, a grand success by explaining the people how the Centre is concerned and has been extending liberal support to truncated Andhra Pradesh. The MLC said the first phase of the programme which will begin from April 14 to 17 will focus on the Centre’s initiatives for social justice and equality while the second phase of campaign from April 18 to 20 will be on agriculture and rural development.
He said that the simplifying the process for availing compensation for crop loss and reducing the crop insurance premium to nominal amount is a boon to farmers while the allocation of Rs 42,000 crore in the central budget for rural development will benefit landless poor in villages.
In this connection, the MLC said that he sought in the AP Legislative Council meeting to include Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name also in ‘Chandranna Bata’ scheme for laying cement concrete roads in rural areas, as the funds for the scheme was totally provided by the Centre.
The final phase which will be from April 21 to 24 is on Panchayat Raj scheme for village development, he said seeking the support of party activists to explain the people about the Central schemes for improving basic facilities including water supply, sanitation and health care in villages.
Replying a query on the assurances given in AP reorganisation Act, he said that the Centre is providing more than what it would get under special status category. About the new railway zone, he said that some railway officials of Odisha putting spoke and delaying it. “We have already explained it to Modi,” he added.
