Eluru: Suspecting fidelity of his wife, a man stabbed her to death at K Kannapuram village in Pedavegi mandal around Saturday midnight. The deceased has been identified as Roja (21). Married for six years, the couple has a boy Mahindra (3). Venkateswara Rao hails from Kavvagunta village in Pedavegi mandal, whereas Roja hails from K Kannapuram village.

According to sources, the couple had been having differences for the past four months as the accused Venkateswara Rao was suspecting Roja’s behaviour. The couple used to have frequent fights over the issue. Meanwhile, Roja’s father Jonnakuti Gangaraju visited his son-in-law’s house and tried to reconcile the couple, but in vain.

Noticing no change in his son-in-law’s behavior, Gangaraju took his daughter to their native. On Saturday, Venkateswara Rao visited his father-in-law’s house at K Kannapuram village. After sometime, he said that he had to go to Kavvagunta on some important work. At midnight, Venkateswara Rao sneaked into the house and attacked his wife.

Eluru Rural CI Adapa Naga Murali said that Venkateswara Rao picked up an argument with Roja during the night on the same issue when he attacked her indiscriminately with a knife, resulting in her instantaneous death. Rajani, elder sister of Roja, who was sleeping next to her, alerted her parents.

Hearing the cries of the victim’s parents, Venkateswara Rao fled the spot. Later, Rajani lodged a complaint with Pedavegi police. Eluru Rural CI Adapa Naga Murali along with Pedavegi police reached the spot on Sunday and sent the body to Eluru Government Hospital for post mortem. Police launched a manhunt for the accused.
