Villagers are suffering from lack of drinking water, toilets, roads, electricity, drainage and more. Women are facing embarrassment with open defecation as there are no toilets.

Nellore: Vexed with the bureaucratic procrastination and lethargy, residents of SC Colony of Saipet panchayat in Kondapuram mandal of the district approached the High Court for development of village. Kopparthi Sumathi, along with Ch Shilpa and Jahnavi, of the village, filed a writ petition (11400 of 2016) in the High Court seeking directions to the district administration and enquiry on utilisation of funds allocated to the SC colony, where no basic amenities are available. Sumathi, advocate by profession, earlier requested the district Collector for an enquiry on the utilisation of funds allocated for the village. As there was no reply from the district administration, she approached the court and Justice Challa Kodandaram gave an interim order for conducting enquiry on the issue.

“We have approached the Court for enquiry on fund utilisation as they were being diverted for other purposes, disregarding basic amenities in the village.

Villagers are suffering from lack of drinking water, toilets, roads, electricity, drainage and more. Women are facing embarrassment with open defecation as there are no toilets.

So, the court gave an interim order asking the district administration to conduct enquiry on fund utilisation,” said Sumathi, writ petitioner and Shilpa who argued the case.
