Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched ‘Chandranna Sanchara Chikitsa’ mobile health vehicles here on Wednesday, his birthday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that he wanted to celebrate his birthday in a simple manner but came out to inaugurate the 275 mobile health clinics to provide medical facilities to the poor at their door-step. He said that the health vehicles would visit each village twice in a month.

The Chief Minister also launched rota virus vaccine, for the first time in the country, and administered the vaccine to a child.

He also inaugurated CT scan facilities at Proddutur, Tekkali, Gudur and Chirala. The Chief Minister also launched injectable polio vaccine.

Addressing the meeting on the occasion, Naidu said that he wants to use technology for developing AP as a medical hub. Stating that the infrastructure in the existing government hospitals was developed and specialists were appointed to render better service, he appealed to doctors to imbibe service motive to ensure adequate medical services to the poor.

Expressing his intention to improve urban health centres too, the Chief Minister said that the government was giving priority to education and health. He said tabs were distributed to ANMs (auxiliary nurse midwives) to register births and deaths and noted that the infant mortality rate had come down in the State.

Laying out his vision for making AP a medical hub, Naidu said several multinational organisations were coming forward to set up hospitals in Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and other cities. An advisory committee has been appointed headed by Sridhar Sarma to explore ways to improve medical and health sector in the State, he added.

Earlier, Minister for Medical and Health Kamineni Srinivas said that medical facilities were improved in government hospitals with the initiative of the Chief Minister. Minister of Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that Andhra Pradesh would stand
as a role model in human resources development under the leadership of Naidu.

Ministers Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, Pathipati Pulla Rao, Commissioner of Medical and Health Poonam Malakondaiah and others took part in the programme.

Later, the Chief Minister presented gold medals to the toppers of various medical colleges in the State. NTR Health University vice-chancellor T Ravi Raju and others were present.

The Piramal Foundation, which provided 275 mobile health vehicles to Chandranna Sanchara Chikitsa, is the project partner.

Anand Piramal, executive director of Piramal group and CEO Paresh Parasnis, explained the features of mobile health vehicles to the, before he flagged off the vehicles.
