Venkatapuram (Anantapur): Lauding the Paritala Ravindra family for continuing the legacy of the late leader, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu blessed 250 couples at a mass wedding ceremony organised at Tirumala Devasthanam Temple near Nasanakota in Venkatapurm village under Ramagiri mandal in the district on Thursday.

He offered wedding garments and all the paraphernalia to the brides and grooms. Vedic priests offered a rousing welcome to both Chief Minister and Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha, widow of the late leader.

Recalling the practice started by late Ravindra, Naidu said in 2002, 350 couples were married, in 2006 1,116 and in 2013, 2230 couples were married with all expenses provided.

He said that Paritala would remain in the hearts of the people eternally. He said that Ravindra was assassinated in a most inhumane way while attending a meeting at the party office.

The Chief Minister, on the occasion, promised to organise such mass marriages in churches and mosques for the benefit of poor Christians and Muslims.
