Chief Secretary directs officials to study Ujjain Maha Kumbh Mela
Chief Secretary SP Tukkar has directed the officials to study the Maha Kumbh Mela arrangements at Ujjain to be followed during Krishna Pushkaralu. In a video conference conducted from Hyderabad, the Chief Secretary said that the Pushkaram works should reflect the development of state capital Amaravati.

He said municipal, tourism, R&B and police departments play a key role in making success the Pushkaram arrangements by working in coordination. He said that the officials should see that no single devotee feel inconvenienced during Pushkaram. He said special efforts should be made on traffic management and safety of devotees.
He asked the police officials to use smart intelligence system to regularise the traffic flow. The Chief Secretary said special attention should be to prevent stampede at Kanaka Durga Temple. He said model Durga Temple should be developed at downhill to prevent huge rush atop Indrakeeladri, the abode of Goddess Kanaka Durga.
He asked the officials to enquire about the barricading procedure at Ujjain Maha Kumbh Mela and take advice of experts to prevent stampede at bathing ghats. He said that the Krishna Pushkaram works should be completed by May 15. Special Secretary of Roads and Buildings Sambabu, Chief Secretary of Endowments JSV Prasad, Chief Secretary of Tourism Neerab Kumar Prasad, Chief Secretary of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Manmohan Singh, Additional DGPs RP Thakur and N Surendrababu were present.
