Construction of mosque triggers clash in Chennur
Tension prevailed in Chennur when two Muslim groups entered into a quarrel over the issue of building the mosque in their locality in Muslim colony in the town on Saturday. According to SI Hussain, the two groups entered into the heated argument on a construction of mosque as one of the group had supported for construction and the other opposed the same.

The altercation between them reached a peak and both groups came to exchange blows. After receiving the information about this bedlam, SI Hussain along with ten police personnel reached the spot and tried hard to bring order. However, both groups pelted stones at each other. The situation appeared to go out of hand and had become difficult to rein in the fighting factions.
The police resorted to lathi charge to bring the semblance of order but in vain. More armed personnel reached the spot to bring the situation under control. The police took key persons from both sides into custody and were later released.
