Vijayawada: The Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation (ACCIF) has welcomed the notification making Vijayawada as examination centre by UPSC for writing the Civil Services main examination and including Anantapur for appearing the Civil Services preliminary examination.

In a press release here on Thursday, the ACCIF announced that the notification provided great relief to the Civil Services examination aspirants appearing from Andhra Pradesh. The federation said that the UPSC this year had included Vijayawada for conducting the Civil Services examination and announced three centres Anantapur, Vizag and Tirupati for appearing the preliminary examination.

The ACCIF president-elect M Murali Krishna and executive director P Bhaskara Rao said the chamber had been pursuing the matter relentlessly for increasing Civil Services examination centres and also for setting up Civil Services main examination centre at Vijayawada for the benefit of large number candidates who attend from Andhra Pradesh.

They said about 20,000 aspirants might take part in the Civil Services examination from Andhra Pradesh and around 4,000 may qualify for the mains. They thanked the Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas for their efforts to make Vijayawada a centre for appearing the Civil Services main examination.
