Atmakur (Kurnool): Mercury appeared like a brown dot while wandering in front of Sun in a rare transit of Mercury occurred on Monday. The astronomical spectacle took place here from 5 pm to 6.10 pm on Monday.

Enthusiastic youth were seen spotting the spectacle with the help of binoculars and telescopes. The Hans India caught it on camera using high contrast filters.

After occurring again in 2019, the event can be witnessed only on November 13, 2032. During the past 100 years, the rare transit of Mercury took place for the 13th time on Monday.
