  • Govt issues administrative sanction for Rs 220 crore to expedite works

It may be mentioned here that the Commissioner of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has called for tenders for the construction of office space of 6 lakh sq ft in 20 acres land for a temporary Secretariat at Amaravati Township at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore.

The government had earlier extended an interest-free loan of Rs 90 crore and to source the remaining from raising the loan, apart from giving a target to complete the construction by June 30, 2016. The CRDA in a letter to the State government said that the companies that have been constructing the Secretariat have been pressing for the release of funds for the works completed.

It was against this background that the CRDA requested the government to immediately sanction and release about Rs 220 crore as additional funds, without resorting to any loan either from a government or from the agency such as HUDCO. Taking the request into consideration the government has given the administrative sanction to release the funds.
