​Vijayawada: Director General of Police J V Ramudu said that the Krishna river bathing ghats should be designed perfectly for the convenience of devotees visiting the city for Krishna Pushkaralu.

The DGP inspected various bathing ghats of Krishna river on Friday along with district Collector Babu A, Additional DGP N Surendra Babu, Commissioner of Police Gautam Sawang, RTC MD N Sambasiva Rao, municipal commissioner G Veera Pandian, joint collector G Chandrudu, sub-collector G Srujana and irrigation officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said officials should give priority for safety of devotees at the entry and exit points to prevent mishaps like the one which took place during the last Godavari Pushkaralu.

He said that he inspected the ghats right from Ferry to Prakasam Barrage and stressed the need to speed up works in view of coming rainy season.

He said that irrigation officials should plan the works to complete them before rainy season.The officials said that ghats would be developed with 10 metres width and four feet depth. They said barricades would be arranged for safety of devotees.

The Director General of Police inspected the bathing ghats at Model Guest House, Durga Ghat, Water House, Punnami Ghat and at Ferry, the confluence point of Godavari and Krishna rivers.
