Nellore: Municipal Minister P Narayana said the State government is committed to construct the capital city, Amaravati by December 2018 despite obstacles from the opposition. He participated in Mini Mahanadu at Kasturidevi Gardens here on Monday. Addressing the party workers, Narayana slammed opposition for criticising welfare schemes of the State government. He stated that the TDP government had created a record by acquiring 33,000 acres of land for the capital city within 58 days.
The Minister flayed YSRCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy for not attending stone laying ceremony for capital city when Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took part. He criticised Jaganmohan Reddy for aspiring to become Chief Minister, who lacks commitment towards State’s development.
District in-charge Minister Sidda Raghavarao said that the Chief Minister is committed to make the State drought-free. The Minister said that Chandrababu Naidu had introduced several welfare schemes for uplift of poor. He found fault with the YSRCP leaders for creating hurdles for State’s progress.
The MLC and TDP politburo member Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that the Central government has to grant special status to Andhra Pradesh.
He said people will not believe in Narendra Modi’s leadership if Centre fails to accord special status. He warned that the BJP would face people’s ire in the coming elections if they fail to render justice to the State.
The Mini Mahanadu passed several resolutions include construction of Dugarajapatnam port, setting up industries and creation of jobs for local population, shipping corporation facility at Iskapalli, reopening of Kovur Sugar Factory, speeding up process of setting up airport in Dagadarthi mandal, allocation of funds for the proposed smart city at Krishnapatnam port, roll back the decision of setting up proposed toll plaza at Kondayapalem.
