Rajavarapu Rama Tulasamma (58), hailed from Narasaraopet died and another 39 pilgrims who accompanied her were injured in a road accident in Konark in the wee hours of Tuesday. The injured hailed from Rompicherla, Eepur and Muppalla Mandal of Guntur district. They started from Narasaraopet on May 20.

The injured hailed from Rompicherla, Eepur and Muppalla Mandal of Guntur district. They started from Narasaraopet on May 20.

The injured have been shifted to the local government hospital in Konark for treatment. Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasad who was in Kenya alerted the district administration to take necessary steps to bring back the injured to Narasaraopet. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also instructed the officials to take necessary steps for the treatment of the injured and extend necessary assistance.

Following instructions from the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa directed the officials to take steps to bring back the injured. The Guntur district administration set up a control room in Narasaraopet RDO office to give necessary information to the family members of the deceased and injured.

The officials took steps to shift body of Tulasamma in an ambulance from Konark to Narasaraopet. Her body will reach Narasaraopet on Wednesday. The injured pilgrims already started from Konark in two buses. They will reach Vijayawada on Wednesday. From there, they will come to Narasaraopet. The revenue and police officials are making necessary arrangements to bring back the injured.
