Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham continued his indefinite hunger strike for the third day on Saturday in the government hospital here, demanding immediate release of the seven accused booked in connection with the Tuni arson, while the police were taking all sorts of steps to minimise the impact of the bandh being observed by the Kapu Joint Action Committee opposing the arrest of its leader.

Rajamahendravaram: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham continued his indefinite hunger strike for the third day on Saturday in the government hospital here, demanding immediate release of the seven accused booked in connection with the Tuni arson, while the police were taking all sorts of steps to minimise the impact of the bandh being observed by the Kapu Joint Action Committee opposing the arrest of its leader.

Mudragada’s wife Padmavathi and daughter-in-law were also continuing the fast in the hospital and refusied to take any diet. The police did not allow anyone including the media persons into the hospital on Saturday. When a few media representatives tried to capture the visuals, the police did not allow them and warned them of seizing the cameras.

All the important leaders of the community were taken into custody and were placed in II-Town police station in Kakinada. Police have also taken YSR Congress party leaders Botcha Satyannarayana, Ambati Rambabu, Ummareddi Venkateswara Rao, Gudivada Gurunatha Reddy, S Udata Bhanu and Pinipe Viswaroop into custody at Madhurapudi airport and shifted them to Korukonda police station.

Meanwhile, SP Ravi Krishna called on Mudragada in the hospital and urged him to cooperate with doctors. Speaking to reporters later, Ravi Krishna informed that the health condition of Mudragada is deteriorating. He said that he had assured Mudragada of ordering a CBI inquiry into the incident but the latter demanded a CBCID probe.
