Transport department officials on Tuesday conducted raids and  seized 11 school buses in Guntur district for failing to produce necessary documents including vehicle fitness certificates.

Amaravati: Transport department officials on Tuesday conducted raids and seized 11 school buses in Guntur district for failing to produce necessary documents including vehicle fitness certificates. They seized vehicles in Guntur, Gurazala, Tenali and Repalle. The officials booked cases and imposed Rs 5,000 penalty for failing to submit necessary documents.

If the same school bus fails to submit fitness certificate and other necessary documents second time, the transport officials have power to cancel bus permit also. Similarly, the officials seized 10 school buses on Monday in Guntur district. Following instructions of Transport Commissioner N Bala Subramanyam, the officials formed special teams and conducting raids.

They are booking the cases against buses carrying students without necessary permissions. They will continue the raids. The officials informed that there is no specific time limit to take vehicle fitness certificates. The school buses should not carry the students without fitness certificates and valid driving license of the driver.
