Rs. 20 cr construction works approved

Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board which met in Tirumala on Tuesday gave its nod to the Engineering department proposals for the construction works costing a total of Rs 19.97 crore and also to its Marketing wing for purchases of various items required for prasadams and also free food being provided by TTD, to the tune of Rs 39.85 crore.

The construction works approved at the trust board meeting chaired by Chairman Ch Krishnamurthy include six operation theatres in TTD run BIRRD Hospital here at a cost of Rs 4.22 crore, SVBC studio and office to come up near Alipiri costing a total of Rs 14.50 crore, Kalyanamandapam at Kondepi in Prakasam district at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore, for which tenders were also finalised. Besides, Rs 25 lakhs were sanctioned for the renovation of Sri Srungara Vallabha Swamy temple near Peddapuram in East Godavari and Rs 31.25 lakh for repairs of Sri Vallabha Narayana Swamy temple at Amadalavalasa in Srikakulam district.

The approval given to Marketing department for purchases include 3.75 lakh kilos of cashew nuts (Rs 25 crore), Sona Masuri rice 15.30 lakh kilos from AP and TS Rice Millers Association (Rs 7.05 crore), 36,000 kilos of cardamom (Rs 3.99 crore), 35,000 kilos of black gram with husk which is used for prasdam (Rs 56 lakh) and 4.40 lakh kilos of jaggery (Rs 1.64 crore).

The other resolutions adopted in the board meeting which mostly confined to engineering works and purchases. It was decided to include Tirupati based Meghana Multi Specialty Dental hospital and JC Dental hospital in the list of hospitals providing medical services to retired, in serve employees and their family members of TTD. TTD Executive Officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao, Principal Secretary JSV Prasad and trust board members were present.
