Rs 3 lakh worth spurious seeds seized from farmer
Following information provided by the media, Rs 3 lakh worth of spurious cotton seeds were seized here on Tuesday from a farmer,
Yemmiganur: Following information provided by the media, Rs 3 lakh worth of spurious cotton seeds were seized here on Tuesday from a farmer, Sambayya, of Pallepadu village in Kosagi mandal, after Agriculture Officer Usharani conducted raids on Balaji Agencies. He has been arrested several times by the Vigilance and the police. The raids were conducted following orders issued by higher officials.
Sambayya allegedly procured licences for ‘Arunodaya 009’ and ‘Srimanthudu 007’ seeds to create confidence among officials. He has been packing the seeds in his house without any grading and official supervision.
Media persons had alerted officials after noticing on the seed packs ‘Narmada Seeds Pvt Ltd’. They were packed in Himayatnagar, Gujarat.
