Vijayawada: The Union government is planning to promote more number of medical colleges across the country in the next three years, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said.

Speaking to the party workers here on Thursday, he said that the country required more number of doctors to take care of the health of the people. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was looking forward to build a healthy nation, which required improved healthcare services and more doctors.

He said that the Prime Minister had already directed the officials to work out modalities to establish more medical colleges across the country in the next three years.

Every district headquarters and every major government general hospital would have one medical college attached,” he said and added that the college could be either from the public or private sector.

Listing out the achievements of the NDA government, he said that the government had recently decided to give permission to private airlines to operate international services. “This would allow common man to afford flight services,” he added.

The Minister claimed that the government had taken several similar steps to take administration close to the people. He wanted party workers to extend their support to Prime Minister, who was working hard to develop the nation and build its image globally.

He wanted the people to shed the differences among people basing on caste, religion, region and language. He said that the NDA government was working hard to reach out to every citizen.

Referring to the development of the State, he said that the Modi’s dispensation was committed to free the nation from corruption and provide better development. “

The last two years have seen corruption-free administration in the country, with the developmental initiatives of the government reaching the real beneficiaries,” he asserted.

Earlier, the BJP State president and Visakhapatnam MP K Hari Babu said that the BJP leadership was giving highest priority to the development of the State. The Centre had already provided Rs 6,000 crore towards filling the revenue gap for the first year as suggested by the 14th Finance Commission.

He said that the finance commission had made an assessment of the State facing Rs 16,000 crore revenue deficit in the next five years after bifurcation.

The Centre was committed to fill the revenue deficit, besides extending greater financial and other help to the State, he said. Hari Babu emphasised the need for a better coordination between the State government and the Centre.
