Vijayawada: Keeping in view the Krishna Pushkaralu, the Roads & Buildings department is trying to complete the Vijayawada-Nunna bypass road at the earliest.

The R&B department had taken up the Nunna bypass road works at a cost of Rs 8 crore three years ago. Due to land acquisition problem, the works are getting delayed.

Local farmers opposed to give their lands to the Government due to increasing prices. However, the revenue department has successfully convinced the farmers and paid compensation to get the lands required for construction of the Nunna bypass road.

The R&B department has completed 90 per cent works and trying to complete the remaining works very soon, said Superintending Engineer K Seshu Kumar.

With completion of Nunna bypass road, commuters travelling between Vijayawada and Nuzvid will get big relief as they need not pass through Nunna village.

The narrow street in Nunna village is the biggest problem faced by commuters for over three decades. Due to lack of alternative road, commuters are depending on the Nunna road to travel to Agiripalli, Nuzvid, Sattupalli, Vissannapeta and other places.

Travelling time between Vijayawada and Nunna will also come down from 70-80 minutes to 50-60 minutes with the inauguration of Nunna bypass road. The buses can directly travel to Nuzvid without hurdles or hiccups at Nunna village. The works started nearly three years ago and continued at snail’s pace due to slow progress of the land acquisition works.

The CRDA, formerly known as VGTM UDA, is trying to complete the Inner Ring Road works worth Rs 120 crore and open to the public for Krishna Pushkaralu.

The 20-km IRR will connect the Milk project junction to Ramavappadu junction passing via Ajit Singh Nagar and Gunadala. The IRR works reached the last stage at Ramavappadu. Mega Road Over Bridge works already completed passing over Ryves canal, Eluru canal and Budameru drain. With only two months are left for the beginning of the Krishna Pushkaralu, the CRDA is getting ready to inaugurate the IRR.

Vehicles travelling from Gollapudi towards Eluru and Gannavaram can be diverted via IRR without entering the city. The IRR works reached to the final stage in Ramavappadu where the IRR will be merged with the Chennai-Kolkata highway.
