Visakhapatnam: Chairman of Innovation Society of Andhra Pradesh JA Chowdary has said society is going through an innovation era and it is imperative for the companies and human beings or society as a whole, to innovate or perish.

Participating as chief guest at the three-day workshop on ‘Smart Village Open Innovation Challenges’ at Andhra University, jointly organised by the Centre for Open Innovation of Andhra University and Garwood Centre for Corporate Innovation of University of California, Berkley here on Monday, Chowdary said it was time for out-of-box thinking.

In the coming days, the jobs would be taken away by the artificial intelligence and robots. Centre for Open Innovation at Andhra University would be the beginning towards the next era of innovation,” he added.

About 100 students from various IIMs, IITs and other institutions were shortlisted to participate in this three-day workshop and produce their prototype smart village plans on the last day, Wednesday. The intent is to develop technology-powered solutions at the village levels, using IT, mobile apps, sensors, embedded technologies, wearables, data analytics and others.

The top 10 teams would implement their ideas in the proposed smart village - Mori village of East Godavari - and tweak their ideas according to the needs of village.

He further informed that they would establish an ‘International Institute of Digital Technology in Tirupati - having schools of excellence in Internet of Things and Cloud, Cyber Security, Big Data Analytics, Model Computing and Digital User
Experience.
