​Bhimavaram (WG Dist.): The BJP State president and Visakhapatnam MP Dr K Haribabu on Friday claimed that the State getting uninterrupted power supply was because of the initiatives of the NDA government at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a party executive meeting, Dr Haribabu said that the Modi government had taken several steps to bail out the State from the electricity crisis.

The initiatives have helped the State to have 24 hours power supply, he said and wanted people to thank the Prime Minister. He further said that the Central government had also taken steps to establish power generation units to add 6,500 mw power for the State. This would include 4,000 mw thermal power at Visakhapatnam, 2,500 mw each solar power plants at Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur districts.

The BJP leader said that the Central government had also cleared the proposals for petroleum refinery at Visakhapatnam at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore besides drilling units at Kakinada, Visakhapatnam and Machilipatnam each coming up at Rs 20,000 crore.

Dr Haribabu reiterated that the Centre had cleared projects worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore to strengthen the State and recalled that the government had also started nine Central government institutions in the State in the last two years which are set to turn the State into a knowledge hub. The government was also committed to provide financial assistance to the State including reimbursing the revenue deficit.

The BJP senior leader Siddharthnath Singh, V Satish, Ministers Kamineni Srinivas and P Manikyala Rao, MP Gokaraju Gangaraju, former ministers Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, U V Krishnam Raju, D Purandheswari, legislators Vishnukumar Raju and Satyanarayana, MLCs Somu Veerraju and Satyanarayana Raju, former Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana and others were present.
