Assurance panel inspects Goshala
The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA) Committee on Assurances expressed its displeasure on the poor maintenance of TTD’s Sri Venkateswara Gosamrakshna Shala (SVGS) here on Wednesday.

The APLA panel led by its Chairman Pendurthi Venkatesh have visited the sprawling SVGS at Thummalagunta area near here and pulled up the authorities for its tardy maintenance and also for their failure to ensure proper feed to the dumb animals, after seeing some of the emaciated cows with protruding bones in the farm.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkatesh said that the animals are not fed and the Goshala not kept tidy and clean despite TTD having enough funds.
“You should ensure proper environment that should evoke pious feeling and enhance spiritual ambience here as devotees too are coming here to worship the cows,” he said expressing his ire openly at TTD officials.
The committee members also inspected the stable where the horses were sheltered and the yard where the elephants are kept after visiting the Goshala in SVGS where they saw various species of cows including Helicar, Ghir, Ongole and Punganur.
The chairman and the members also elicited the details on the maintenance of animals in SVGS including the daily feed being provided to them and also the health care. They found fault with officials for not maintaining proper records about the daily care of the animals.
Later, Venkatesh said the committee is not happy with the maintenance of SVGS and added that they will take the issue through their report to the Assembly Speaker for follow up remedial action.
Committee members J Jogeswar Rao, K Raghupathi, Yelamanchili Ramesh Babu, K Govinda Satyanarayana, TTD JEO Bhaskar, SVGS superintendent Haranatha Reddy and other TTD officials were present.
