Atmakur (Nellore): Attempts to secure Rs 1 crore loan from a bank pledging fake documents of land situated under survey number 52 of Chaparallapalli village of Anantasagaram mandal of the district came to light on Wednesday. The hand of revenue employees in the district is suspected in the scam to defraud banks to the tune of Rs 1 crore. A plot was hatched to get loan on 18 benami names pledging 60 acres with the bank under the ayacut of the tank in Chaparallapalli.

When the matter was leaked out, the villagers complained about it to the officials. Anantasagaram mandal revenue officer Somla Naik suspected the hand of a computer operator Rajeswari working in his office behind the scam. He suspected that his signature was forged. He said that the matter would be referred to superior officials to punish her as per the law.

However, the villagers did not buy the argument and suspected the hand of superior officials in the scam. They expressed apprehension over the vested interests targeting their lands to perpetrate a scam and sought stern action against the culprits.
