Tirupati Bar Association celebrated Guru Purnima in the court premises. Speaking on the occasion, senior advocate and TTD standing council member I Guruswamy said that guru was accorded a unique and an enviable position by equating him to none other than to God as he was one, who was responsible for our enlightenment.

​Tirupati: Guru Purnima festival celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in various temples and also by a social organisation in the pilgrim city on Tuesday.

In Srirama Sai temple in Sivajyothi Nagar, special prayers and Abhishekam were performed to the deity of Saibaba in which devotees also took part in the celestial bath of the deity with milk and panchamrutham. Annadanam was also organised by the committee led by its president Vijay Kumar.

Patanjali Yoga Samiti and Bharat Swabhiman Trust also celebrated Guru Purnima at a meeting held in TUDA Conference Hall. TDP Vaidhya Vibhagam district president R Sudharani, who was the chief guest for the function, called on the people to adhere to the preaching’s of Shirdi Saibaba. “The Saibaba had stressed on peace, brotherhood and equality,” she said.

In new Maruthi Nagar, local MLA M Suguna along with IMA senior leader B Sukumar and Sudharani participated in the special pujas held in the Shirdi Saibaba mandiram in the locality on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Meanwhile, Saibaba temples in the city teemed with devotees, who thronged the shrines to offer prayers.

The temples which wore festive look with colourful decorations thrown open for darshan early in the morning, witnessed unending flow of devotees right from the morning to night.

Nellore: Devotees thronged to Saibaba temples across the district and offered prayers to presiding deity on Tuesday, on the occasion of Guru Purnima festival.Temples in city teemed with devotees, who performed special rituals.

Devotees in large number were seen at temples located at Gandhi Statue, Haranathapuram, BV Nagar, Nippo Centre, Balaji Nagar, Children’s Park area, Madras Bus Stand, Podalakur Road, close to Indukurpet, and many places from early hours.

They offered prayers as part of abhishekam conducted with milk and fruit juices. Many temples have made special arrangements for devotees like drinking water and prasadams.
