​Visakhapatnam: Andhra University teachers and specialists in respective fields will help the GVMC and the State government in making Visakhapatnam a smart city, said Andhra University Vice- Chancellor Prof

The Vice-Cchancellor held a meeting with the experts, who came from the US to the university campus on Tuesday, and told them that he would set up a nodal agency in the university to coordinate with the foreign and Indian agencies to give best to the project. He also asked his faculty to share their views with the visiting US members.

The All India Principal Programme Advisor of US Embassy in India, Mandeep Kaur, told the Vice-Chancellor and others that the US experts would be visiting Allahabad, Ajmer and Visakhapatnam cities soon and said she was looking for cooperation from the Andhra University experts in the fields of energy, engineering and environment.

Very soon experts on transport would also be visiting Andhra University, she said. Prof Anu Ramaswamy of University of Minnesota said that their university would be cooperating with the GVMC in its endeavour to make Visakhapatnam a Smart City.

She also said cooperation would be given to GVMC on energy, sanitation, food supply, public space, transportation and waste management.Andhra University rector Prof EA Narayana, registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao and faculty were present.
