The more things change, the more they stay the same. Despite a massive publicity blitzkrieg unleashed by the Central and State governments regarding a ‘Swacch nation’, officialdom, especially at government hospitals, continues to turn a blind eye to the importance of hygiene.

Rajamahendravaram: The more things change, the more they stay the same. Despite a massive publicity blitzkrieg unleashed by the Central and State governments regarding a ‘Swacch nation’, officialdom, especially at government hospitals, continues to turn a blind eye to the importance of hygiene.

The Hans India captured exclusive images at the government hospital highlighting the miserable plight of patients.

One of the images shows a patient amid heaps of garbage near the premises of the hospital, earnestly begging for support. The patient was being treated for injuries to his legs in the hospital.

Unable to bear the pain, the patient had apparently walked out of the hospital and collapsed near the premises of the hospital.

The area is strewn with medical waste, which includes empty IV fluid bottles, needles and other forms of waste and a foul odour permeates the entire area.

The patient is still waiting desperately for support to get admitted to the hospital. He was totally neglected by the hospital staff who frequent the area. They did not respond to queries from The Hans India.
