Tirupati: Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao on Wednesday visited RASS-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Karakambadi and also
Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) of the Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU). At RARS, the Minister while
interacting with scientists, he wanted them to focus on finding out high yielding varieties to make the farmers able to produce 70 bags of
paddy per acre.

He also sought invention of new varieties of seeds that could withstand drought condition, for the benefit of farmers in the drought prone
area like Rayalaseema and also promotion of methods like taking up intercrops with groundnut to increase income to farmers. Scientists
led by Director of Research NV Naidu felicitated the Minister.

Earlier, the Minister interacted with scientists and farmers at RASS-KVK. He lauded the KVK headed by its chairman and RASS general
secretary G Muniratnam, in promoting farm mechanisation and high yield variety seeds to increase farmer’s income.

Muniratnam explained the activities of KVK for farmers and also rural women for their economic development. Environment and Forests
Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, officials and TDP leaders have accompanied the Minister.
