Visakhapatnam: Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao called upon the youth to emulate ideals of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.Paying tributes to Visvesvaraya after garlanding his statue at a programme organised by the Andhra University Engineers’ Office here on Thursday, Prof Nageswara Rao said that Mokshagundam was instrumental in completing various projects in the country.

He said that the great engineer had contributed a lot for the development of Visakhapatnam Port. Engineering College principal Prof P S Avadhani, Rector Prof Narayana, Registrar Prof Umamaheswara Rao and IIT Kharagpur Prof Amarnath Reddy also spoke. Later, the Vice-Chancellor released the book on Visvesvaraya penned by retired Andhra University librarian Prof Somaraju.
In yet another programme conducted by the ECE wing of Andhra University, rich tributes were paid to the great engineer.
Former Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Prof G S N Raju said that Mokshagundam had contributed a lot for the development of the nation.
Andhra University Executive Council member Prof G Sasibhushana Rao and Prof P Rajesh Kumar also spoke. Later, the founder of ECE department Prof G Madhusudana Rao was felicitated.Engineers Day was also organised at Alwar Das Group of Educational Institutions, including Sanketika Vidya Parishad Engineering College, Sanketika Institute of Technology and Management and Sanketika Polytechnic College, here on Thursday.
Scientist and Additional Director of NSTL Dr V V S Bhaskara Raju was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that budding engineering students should know about the importance of engineering applications.
Secretary and correspondent Dr S V H Rajendra advised the students to adopt engineering skills. Director K S P Rao, Dean (academics) Bhaskar Venkataramani, principal Dr P M M S Sarma and Dr A Anil Kumar also spoke.
