Rajamahendravaram: Normal life was disturbed as rains lashed out Rajamahendravaram and Agency areas on Wednesday and Thursday due to which all the tanks in East Godavari overflowed. Chagalnadu canal on which lift irrigation scheme was built had a breach near Velugubanda village on Thursday due to which traffic was disrupted on NH-16 for a few hours between Rajamahendravaram and Visakhapatnam.

Traffic congestion between Rampachodavaram Agency area including V R Puram, Chinturu and other areas leading to Rajamahendravaram was disrupted as many rivulets started overflowing in the Agency for the last 48 hours. Traffic was stranded off for more than four hours near Madhurapudi Airport as water from Katheru-Konthamuru tank started overflowing on Thursday.

Same situation was evident near Rajanagaram as the tank in the village overflowed from Thursday. RTC buses which were plying between en route were stopped for more than three hours at RTC complex, Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada.

As heavy rain lashed out for the last 36 hours, water entered low-lying areas in Rajamahendravaram including Aryapuram, Tummalava, Gokavaram, Moolagoyyi, Ademmadibba, Seshaiah metta, Railway station road, stadium road, RTC complex road and Narayanapuram.
