Speaking on the occasion, the EO said Jyothirao Phule strived hard for the eradication of untouchability and encouraged women education. He should be an inspiration to all of us in discharging our duties and responsibilities in the best possible manner. Earlier in his speech, Tirupati JEO P Bhaskar also recalled the life history of Mahatma, the Satyasodhak Samaj founded by him and his efforts towards women education.
Everyone should strive for fulfiling the ideals of Mahatma Jyothirao Phule, said CPI city secretary Chinnam Penchalaiah. He garlanded the statue of Jyothirao Phule in Tirupati on Tuesday. He described Phule as the social idealist who fought against caste discrimination. He called for the removal of inequalities in the society.
CPI leaders K Radhakrishna, ND Ravi, N Sreeramulu; AISF leaders Sasi, K Siva Reddy and others were present. The BJP leaders described Phule as the champion of poor, downtrodden and weaker sections. They garlanded the statue of Phule here on Tuesday and called for the unity among all backward classes for their development. Party leaders Gundal Gopinath Reddy, Subramanyam Yadav, K Chandrababu Yadav and others took part.
Phule remembered
Nellore: District Collector R Mutyala Raju and MLC Beeda Ravi Chandra have garlanded the statue of Mahatma Jyothirao Phule at mini bypass road here on Tuesday, on the occasion of his 191th birth anniversary.Later, they participated in birth anniversary celebrations at NGOs home.
The Collector handed over loans to the beneficiaries during the meeting. Speaking at the meeting, Mutyala Raju urged the parents to encourage education among girls by taking inspiration from Phule. Some parents were encouraging their girl children only up to intermediate, he lamented. MLC Beeda Ravi Chandra made an appeal to the Collector to resolve BCs issues. He also said the government would identify suitable land for BC Bhavan in the city.
Sullurupet MLA K Sanjeevaiah requested the government to set up Mahatma Jyothirao Phule Smaraka Vanam at Amaravati. Joint Collector-2 Ranjith Basha, former ZP Chairman P Chenchal Babu Yadav and others were present. Further, YSRCP district convener K Govardhan Reddy garlanded statue of Phule at mini bypass road along with party leaders. Rural MLA K Sridhar Reddy and others took part. The Congress leaders organised celebrations at Indira Bhavan on Tuesday in which DCC President P Krishnaiah and others participated.
