Rompicharla (Chittoor dist): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday accused Leader of Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy of compromising with the NDA government for his personal sake, when he (Naidu) had to settle for special package offered by the Centre in lieu of the special category status in the interest of the successor state at large.

Addressing a public meeting here, Naidu said Jagan’s promise for support to the BJP’s Presidential candidate amounted to doing a u-turn from his earlier announcement to let his party MPs resign from their posts as a mark of protest against the Centre’s failure to accord SCS to the state.

He alleged that he gave this promise to the Prime Minister expecting a quid pro quo seeking the former’s help to get relief from the heat of Enforcement Directorate probing his alleged involvement in corruption. Naidu, in the same breath, admitted that he too compromised with the NDA regime to serve the interests of people in his state.

Making a scathing attack on YSR Congress Party, the TDP president said the party is all surviving on divisive tactics and irrational attack on TDP government with a sole motive of creating obstacles to development and welfare of the state . He asked Jagan to stop playing destructive politics and help development of the state beyond political considerations.
