Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched the scheme through video conference from the secretariat at Velagapudi in Amaravati along with Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Wednesday. Colour-coded bedsheets will be introduced in the first phase in 11 teaching hospitals in the state including Ruia and Maternity hospitals in Tirupati.

Under the scheme, patients will get a different coloured bedsheets every day so that they can easily identify them that they are fresh. An agreement was reached between the state government and an outsourcing company for the maintenance of bedsheets. These will be changed every year and new bedsheets will be introduced.

Through the video conference, Chandrababu took feedback from patients at Ruia hospital. He spoke to G Radha of Palamaner, who is undergoing treatment in Ruia Hospital. He asked her about details of treatment and reception at the hospital. She gave reply to the Chief Minister that the services are exemplary and they are on par with the private hospitals. Another patient Subba Lakshmi from Rajampet mandal said that employees at the hospital are paying good attention and amenities are so good.

Later, the poster relating to the color code bedsheets was launched. Tirupati Municipal Commissioner Hari Kiran, Joint Collector-II Chandramouli, DMHO S Vijaya Gowri, DCHS Sarala and TDP district health wing president Dr R Sudha Rani have participated.
