Anantapur: Every time wind blows along with rains, huge branches of trees interfering with power cables are felled. AP Transco personnel are busy cutting massive branches of trees making the bushy trees shapeless. Due to lack of coordination between government departments, AP Transco people cut down the tree branches while municipality plants the trees.

Similarly one department lays the road while another digs the roads indiscriminately and change the shape of the well laid roads.People watching the trees being cut have expressed grave concern at the trend of cutting branches or felling trees. It was a sad sight for many to see the tree branches being cut. It takes a minimum of 10 years to grow into a shade giving tree and just a couple of hours to fell the trees.

Instead of cutting the massive branches of trees, the Transco people can as well cover the power cables with plastic pipes as is being down in some slums where power cables pass through thickly populated localities. These cables if covered by plastic pipes do not directly touch live wires and even if they pass through the tree branches it does not interfere with functioning of power supply. Such a measure can prevent tree felling and destruction of tree branches.
