Earlier, district education officials have decided to close 105 government primary schools, 16 upper primary schools and 4 Zilla Parishad high schools in the district due to lack of strength. District Collector P S Pradyumna and Amaranatha Reddy have urged HRD Minster Ganta Srinivasa Rao to exempt schools from rationalisation. But, he expressed his ability as it is against the state government policy.

During his recent visit to Kuppam, the Chief Minister also did not concede the request of the Collector and the Industries Minister. On Thursday, Amaranatha Reddy spoke to the Chief Minister over phone explaining the need of exempting the district from rationalisation. As a result, only 6 government primary schools will be closed as they have student strength of less than 5.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, Amaranatha Reddy has thanked the Chief Minister for exempting government schools from rationalisation. He said his efforts to convince Naidu has become fruitful. The Minister stated that Chandrababu is keen on developing the state on all fronts.

He hailed the Chief Minister for linking of rivers through Pattiseema Project. “TDP government has been spending Rs 6,000 crore towards pension scheme covering 48 lakh beneficiaries in the state,” he added. Amaranatha Reddy slammed YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy for taking every opportunity to criticise the TDP government.

The state government is committed for the welfare of Kapu community, he said and added that Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham is hatching conspiracy to destabilise the TDP government.
