Pawan Kalyan met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday to discuss about the kidney-related diseases in the Uddanam region of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. Later, they had a meeting with a Harvard team and the team of expert doctors from AP who did research on the issue. AP health minister Kamineni Srinivas also took part in the discussions. Pawan Kalyan expressed satisfaction over the measures already taken by the TDP government.

Over 4,500 people in the village have died of kidney diseases in the past ten years. It was reported that each family in the area had at least one person suffering from a kidney ailment. A team from Harvard University had conducted a research in 2016 and found that excessive silica in water is the main cause for the disease. The team stated that the water was not suitable for drinking and cultivation.
