App launched to rescue Gulf victims

Kadapa: The district administration introduced ‘Bandam’ app to rescue victims, who are suffering in the hands of employers in Gulf countries. District Collector T Baburao Naidu and SP Attada Babujee launched the app at the Collectorate here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that about 60 per cent people from the district have settled in various professions in the Gulf countries. He stated that there are several instances of people are being harassed by employers.

Even, they are not able to come back to India as employers are keeping passports with them, he lamented. Naidu said that app will help to track victims and rescue from the clutches of employers. He said that the app would be implemented with the coordination of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Revenue and Police departments.

The Collector stated that SHG women would be utilised for effective implementation of ‘Bandam’ app. Explaining about the functioning of the app, Naidu said that SHG women working in villages will collect the information of villagers, who have migrated to Gulf countries and submit a detailed information about them to district administration. The SHG women fill the proforma with personal details like name, address, name of the company, mobile and WhatsApp numbers, passport details, date of leaving the village and name of the agency which recruited them for abroad work.

After securing the details, the administration will upload information in the database. The Collector said that details will help to contact the victims through the internet and bring them back to India.
