Visakhapatnam: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao inaugurated a digital Anganwadi centre and a pre-school digital classroom at Nerellavalasa village in Bheemili constituency of Visakhapatnam district on Saturday.

The facilities were set up in the region with the financial help of Telugu Association of North America (TANA). According to the HRD Minister, this Anganwadi centre is the first one in the State to get digital equipment facility.

Speaking on the occasion, Ganta praised TANA for coming forward on the request of the Chief Minister to give financial aid for setting up of digital classrooms, construction of Anganwadi centres, digitilisation of pre-school classrooms and development of crematoriums.

“So far the TANA has given assistance of Rs 3 crore to the State. Besides it is willing to provide another Rs 2 crore aid for the region. Of the Rs 3 crore funds, Rs 1 crore was allotted for Visakhapatnam alone. With this support nearly 7000 Anganwadi centres and pre-school digital centres were being set up,” the HRD Minister said.

The crematoriums were also being repaired in a phased manner, he added.“We have given aid for digitalising classrooms in 22,000 schools. And another 800 schools too will get support from us,” said Komati Jayaram, a member of TANA.
