Naidu’s home district last in implementing biometric attendance

The e-Hazar status of teachers is just 9.03% and students is 0.21% even though biometric devices were distributed 100 per cent in Chittoor district.
Amaravati: Though Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu often stressed the need for implementation of e-Hazar-biometric attendance monitoring system, Chittoor, the native district of Chandrababu Naidu, stood at bottom in biometric attendance.
The e-Hazar status of teachers is just 9.03% and students is 0.21% even though biometric devices were distributed 100 per cent in Chittoor district.
According to the data of School Education department, 41,601 schools, 35 lakh students and 1.85 lakh teachers are under coverage of biometric attendance monitoring system in the State as on July, 31.

The biometric devices have been delivered to all high schools, upper primary and model primary schools. The department said that focus had been laid on attendance of teachers and students and the issue is being addressed through the biometric system. The department is also setting up a control room to respond to field level complaints.
Chittoor is among the eight districts where biometric devices were distributed 100 per cent. Schools in Chittoor, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhaptanm, East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts have been supplied 100% biometric devices.
But, the highest teachers’ attendance in these districts was 56.45% (Guntur) and second lowest 9.39% in Vizianagaram.
Teachers’ attendance in Srikakulam was 47.54% and students’ attendance was 3.11%.Schools in some districts were not supplied 100% biometric devices. As per data, 36.43 % schools in Prakasam district have been given
devices and the teachers’ attendance was 24.49% and the students’ attendance was one per cent.
In Nellore district, 27.9 % schools were distributed biometric devices and the teachers’ biometric attendance was 19.63 and students’ attendance was 0.28. In Kadapa, biometric devices were distributed to 27.56 schools and teachers’ attendance was 2.86 and students’’ attendance was 0.02.In Kurnool, 54.67 schools were given devices and teachers’ attendance was 27.1 and students attendance was 0.97 and 41.63 % schools in Anantapur were given devices and teachers’ attendance was 24.76 and students’ attendance was 0.51.
Chief Minister said in the Collectors’ conference on Wednesday that biometric system should be made compulsory in all departments. He also warned that he would not tolerate the employees who would not attend offices properly and not spend sufficient time in their offices.
