Amaravati: The state government may have to bear additional burden to acquire land for Amaravati-Anantapur greenfield expressway as the farmers were expecting more compensation than being offered by it. District collectors are waiting for the directions of the government on the issue as the R&B department has requested the government for land acquisition notification.

in a recent meeting, collector of Prakasam district told Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that farmers were expecting more compensation than the government was considering to offer to acquire their lands for the highway. Some other collectors too expressed similar opinions before the Chief Minister.

When the Chief Minister suggested that the collectors implement the land pooling system, like in Amaravati where 33,000 acres land was pooled successfully, the collectors reportedly told him that it would not be a success in Rayalaseema districts. He also told the officials that land acquisition has to be completed soon.

On other hand, even the peg marking and field measurements works in some districts are not completed yet though Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has set deadline for completion of Amaravati-Anantapur greenfield expressway by 2019.
