Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu indicated that it will take 3 to 4 months to implement monthly allowance to unemployed youth as more debate was required to frame the guidelines for the scheme.

Replying to short discussion on industries, investment and youth policy in the AP Assembly on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the Cabinet sub-committee held five meetings to discuss on unemployment allowance scheme but more debate was required on implementation of the scheme.

“The government is ready to give Rs 1,000 or Rs 1,500 as monthly allowance to unemployed youth. But, overall empowerment of youth is our target. The allowance should be utilised for skill development, knowledge upgradation of youth and making the youth involve in social activities,” he said. The youth should be made as a dynamic force in the development process of the State,” he said. He said the government was collecting data from various sources, including Smart Pulse Survey on young people who are between 21 and 35. He invited suggestions from legislators to frame guidelines for unemployment allowance scheme.

“I want a thorough debate on the unemployment scheme even if it takes 3-4 months to get into implementation. We are considering some models being implemented by some States in our country and other countries,” he said. Stating that having lakhs of young people was an advantage to the State, he said two committees were working on implementation of AP Youth Policy - Advisory Committee chaired by Chief Minister and High-Power Committee chaired by the Chief Secretary.

Speaking on industrial development in the State, the Chief Minister said he would visit South Korea on December 4, 5 and 6 and finalise the agreement on Korean township in Anantapur district. He said the efforts of State government were yielding results due to which several global business houses were showing interest to establish their units in AP.

He also said 25,110 small and major industries, which entered MoUs with the State government during two business summits in Visakhapatnam, were in the process of setting up industries in State.

“If all the industries establish their units in the State, Rs 4.32 lakh crore investments will come to AP and 14.25 lakh people will be provided employment,” the Chief Minister said. He also said the State government would give Rs 2,500 crore as investment subsidy to industries per year and it was Rs 3,592 crore for current year.

He also said the State would be No.1 in ease of doing business this year also and the next investors summit would be held in Visakhapatnam on February 23, 24 and 25, 2018.
