The Duvvada police on Wednesday arrested three accused in the rape case of a tribal minor girl. Presenting the accused before the media, South ACP J Ram Mohan said that the accused were identified as bus driver Chintada Viswanadh (A1), Moturi Surya Prakash Rao (A2), a resident of Gajuwaka and working as assistant security officer in VSEZ, and bus owner Muvvala Appala Raju (A3).

Visakhapatnam: The Duvvada police on Wednesday arrested three accused in the rape case of a tribal minor girl. Presenting the accused before the media, South ACP J Ram Mohan said that the accused were identified as bus driver Chintada Viswanadh (A1), Moturi Surya Prakash Rao (A2), a resident of Gajuwaka and working as assistant security officer in VSEZ, and bus owner Muvvala Appala Raju (A3).

According to the ACP, driver of the bus bearing No AP31TH 6285 Chintada Viswanadh gagged the mouth of the victim and took her into the bus and raped her. Subsequently, the victim along with her relative went to the security in-charge Prakasa Rao and bus owner Appala Raju and informed them about the incident. However, the two insisted on her to compromise with the accused and paid Rs one lakh as compensation. They also paid another Rs 20,000 for medical expenses with a view to hush up the crime.

Later, the bus owner also warned the girl that she would face dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone. However, the girl mustered courage and informed her brother about the incident and approached the police.

“There HBL Company has no direct or indirect connection with the accused. The accused are not HBL employees. The victim is also not working in the company. Based on the primary information the three accused were arrested and the investigation is still on. During our investigation, if we find that anyone is directly or indirectly involved in the crime they would be arrested,” ACP Ram Mohan said. The police also seized the bus and Rs 1 lakh cash.
