Amaravati: Revenue minister K E Krishna Murthy said that the government would establish 16 new revenue divisions in the state to the existing 51 revenue divisions. Answering to members during question hour in the Assembly on Thursday, the minister said the government would take a decision in this regard after completion of public hearing. He also hinted 9 urban mandals would be added to the state.
He added the collectors had submitted their proposals to the government. As per the proposals Pathapatnam (Srikakulam district), Chipurupalli and Bobbili (Vizianagaram district) Chodavaram, Chintapalli (Visakhapatnam district), Bhimavaram (West Godavari district), Nanidigama (Krishna district), Bapatla (Guntur district), Marturu, Darsi (Prakasam district), Srikalahasti, Kuppam (Chittoor district), Badvel (Kadapa district), Pattikonda, Atmakuru (Kurnool district), Guntakal (Anantapur district) are in the proposed new revenue divisions list.
The government would issue a gazette notification inviting opinions from people, Krishna Murthy said and added the MLAs of East Godavari district also requested the government over the establishment of additional revenue divisions.
The urban mandals are being created based on the population density and in the first phase 9 new mandals would be created. The 9 new mandals include Maharanipet, Gopalapatnam, Mulagada and three mandals in Vizag city and one mandal at each cities of Guntur, Kurnool and Nellore, he informed.
