The West Godavari district bagged second place in Intermediate first year in the state. The girls outshined the boys in the examinations.

Eluru: The West Godavari district bagged second place in Intermediate first year in the state. The girls outshined the boys in the examinations.

The Intermediate first year results was declared by Education Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao at Visakhapatnam on Friday afternoon.

In the results the West Godavari district achieved 67 percent results and stood in second place. A total of 33,005 students attended the first year and 22,135 passed the examination. Out of the total 15,261 boys attended, 9294 students passed to achieve 61 percent results. 17,744 girl students attended the exam and 12,841 girls passed achieving 72 percent results.

2,919 students from 32 Government Colleges attended the examination and 1392 students passed achieving 48 percent results. About 2618 students attended the examination through 14 aided colleges in the district and 1407 students passed to achieve 54 percent results.

The Social Welfare Junior Colleges achieved 77 percent results. Out of 657 students, 507 students passed the examiniation. The three tribal welfare colleges in Jeelugumilli, Buttayagudem and Kota Ramachandrapuram achieved 70 percent results. 294 students from these three colleges attended the exam and 204 passed. About 25,543 students from Private colleges appeared for the first year examination and 18,625 students passed to achieve 73 percent results.

In vocational courses, 786 students from Government colleges attended the examination and 444 students passed to record 57 percent result. From Aided Collegegs 770 students attended the Vocational Courses and 543 passed to achieve 77 percent results. In Tribal Welfare colleges out of 32 attended students 25 students passed the vocational courses recordeding 78 percent. The private colleges sent 1633 students of which 778 students passed to record 48percent results.

Comparing to earlier academic years, West Godavari district has improved the pass percentage. In 2013, West Godavari recorded only 58 percent, in 2014 it recorded 58 percent. In 2015, the percentage of pass stood at 68 percent and in 2016, pass percentage increased to 70 percent and present academic year, it declined to 67 percent to reach second place in the state.

The Regional Intermediate Board officer (RIBO) B Prabhakar Rao said that the supplementary exams would be started from May 14 and the students who wish to appear these exams have to pay the fee on or before April 21.
