Amaravati: There was no records found for the diamond jewel of Sri Venkateswara Swamy of Tirumala that allegedly went missing, said TTD executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal. He, along with members of TTD, met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday and discussed the recent developments in the temple.

While interacting with media persons here at the Secretariat later, Singhal said that the TTD has been maintaining records from 1952 onwards and each and every single gram of gold and other ornaments were being recorded in it.

He explains that they were ready to display the deity’s jewellery to the public, if the Agama Sastra permits. A committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge in 2011 submitted a detailed report on the status of jewellery stating that the criticism and debate that TTD is not able to identify the jewels donated by Sri Krishnadevaraya is baseless, and not at all justified.

He said it is also disclosing the ignorance of critics regarding the history of 600 years TTD temple. The committee further reported that all the jewellery mentioned in records from 1952 onwards were intact.

Reacting on criticism of missing jewellery donated by Sri Krishnadevaraya, he said that it was baseless. He said that identification of jewellry’s donor became a problem. Speaking in this occasion, Putta Sudhakar Yadav, chairman of TTD Board, asked why did former chief priest AV Ramana Deekshitulu started levelling allegations and criticising only now and not before his termination.

He said that the alleged rose colour diamond, which is allegedly missing, was not at all in the records. “How can a diamond, which does not even exist, go missing?,” he said. Sources said the Chief Minister after enquiring about the controversy after the removal of Ramana Deekshitulu directed the TTD officials and board members to protect the decorum and sublimity of the temple.
