Scores of farmers supporting Vishnuvardhan Reddy have marched towards Sunkesula Barrage and staged a stir on Wednesday.

Addressing the farmers, the TDP leader came down heavily on the District Collector for releasing water into Tungabhadra River instead of storing and supplying the drinking water to 32 villages in his constituency. He made Collector responsible for drinking water crisis in this villages.

He alleged that the Collector had intentionally had instructed the Irrigation department officials to lift the barrage gates to meet water needs of some industries.

He accused the Collector of releasing the water to the industries at the behest of a ruling party MP, indirectly pointing at Rajya Sabha member TG Venkatesh. Reddy warned of taking up the issue to the notice of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, urging him to initiate disciplinary action against the Collector.
