Visakhapatnam: President of Jana Sena Party Pawan Kalyan demanded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu revival of the Tumpala VV Ramana Sugar Factory located in Anakapalle. If the Chief Minister is having any concern and commitment towards the welfare of the farmers, the sugar factory should immediately reopen, he demanded.

As a part of his Visakhapatnam visit, Pawan Kalyan visited the Tumpala Sugar Factory on Tuesday and held discussions with the factory workers.
Later, addressing a public meeting near the factory, he alleged that the state government is not responding to the farmers’ issues. As many as 15,500 farmer families and thousands of worker families are depending on the factory.

“The TDP government is spending a huge amount for deekshas, but not spending smaller amounts for the welfare of the sugarcane farmers. Anakapalle MLA P Govinda Satyanarayana and MP Avanthi Srinivas during the 2014 general elections had assured the farming community and workers that after coming to power, the factory will be reopened.

The MP and MLA should answer the workers and farmers what they are doing for the past four years, Pawan Kalyan questioned. He also levelled allegations against the sitting MLA Govinda Satyanarayana. During the past three-and-a-half years, the government with the recommendations of MLA granted permissions to 330 quarries’, which were posing a threat to the health of people.

During his address, Pawan Kalyan spoke on several local issues, including kidney patients in the mandal. He assured farmers and workers of sugar factory that, if the TDP did not take initiative to re-open the factory, after coming to power, he would reopen the factory.
