Vijayawada: Horticulture Commissioner Chiranjeevi Choudhary has said with ground-level awareness on organic farming, the farmers will get good yield and profits.

He participated as chief guest at ‘Udyana 2018’ on the concluding day of the four-day awareness programme organised by the horticulture department of Andhra Pradesh and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Siddhartha Engineering College here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that if 50 percent of the lands were developed for organic farming, the farmers would be benefited.

He appreciated the farmers for sowing 25 to 30 varieties of crops instead of going with less number of varieties.

He said that the programme had helped the farmers to understand the new trends in farming.

Choudhary said that the government was providing all kinds of support to the farmers to cultivate through organic farming.

He further said that Organic Food Street established at the Udyana programme had attracted the visitors with delicious and tasty food recipes.

CII chairman N Lakshmi Prasad said that there were about 30 more stalls when compared to previous year.

This was the third time Udyana was being organised after the state bifurcation.

Awareness was created among the farmers on the new technology in the field of organic farming through this four-day programme, he added.

Professors from agriculture universities, farmers and others were present.
