Ongole: The members of the Prakasam district unit of Secondary Grade Teachers Federation (SGTF) organised a protest in front of the district Collectorate, demanding that the government give positive response for their long standing problems.

The federation state secretaries, Katragadda Madhavi, DJ Prabhakara Rao, P Srinivasulu, district president Srigiri Chinnakumar, secretary KSC Hariprasad, financial secretary Maruti Srisailam, women president K Sudharani and others spoke at the protest and demanded that the government provide MLC voting right to SGTs and PSHM (LFL)s, adjust the PRC Pay fixation between SGTs and SAs to 20 percent from the existing 26.85 percent, implement promotions to SGTS in SA Telugu, Hindi and Urdu up gradation, promote SGTs who complete 12 years of service as SAs, see the teacher and student ratio as 1:15 in primary schools and introduce English medium parallel in all schools, consider PSHMs (LFL) for MEO promotions also.

They said that 1.8 lakh secondary grade teachers want solution to their problems and the government should take positive decision on these long standing service issues.
